Third of cases in London are Omicron – Zahawi

The Omicron variant accounts for a third of the coronavirus cases in London, Nadhim Zahawi has said.

Speaking to the BBC’s Andrew Marr, the former vaccines minister turned education secretary said hospitals were now seeing patients infected with the new variant.

He said it was “much more infectious” than the current dominant variant in the UK, Delta.
